Fall semester 31 August

Change of course - general

Please note that any changes of course for the spring semester are only possible for isolated faculties and courses of study. Please contact the relevant faculty or academic advisor beforehand for advice on how to organize your program of study.

Note: changing course does not exempt you from the obligation to be examined on modules that have already been booked.

Change of degree program to another level of study:
Transferring from a Bachelor's degree program to a Master's degree program, from a Master's degree program to doctoral study, or when studying for a Teaching Diploma for Upper Secondary Education

When transferring directly from a Bachelor's degree program to a Master's degree program, from a Master's degree program to doctoral study, or when studying for a Teaching Diploma for Upper Secondary Education, you are required to change your degree program during semester enrollment. Your faculty will then decide whether you can be admitted to the desired degree program with or without restrictions and conditions.

In addition to announcing a change of degree program to another level of study during online enrollment, you must register directly at the faculty in question for your final degree (Bachelor/Master).

Enrolling for a new semester is not the same as registering for your degree. And registering for your final degree (Bachelor's or Master's degree) at your faculty is not the same as changing your enrollment status (change of degree program to another level of study). Each step must be taken individually.

Please note that the deadlines to register for final degrees (BA/BSc/MA/MSc) vary from faculty to faculty, and that the deadline may be before the deadline for semester enrollment. You can find all registration deadlines for final degrees as well as information on procedures on the homepage of the faculty in question:

Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Bachelor's degree
Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Master's degree
Faculty of Economics, Business Administration and Information Technology
Faculty of Law
Faculty of Theology
Faculty of Science

Students at the Faculty of Medicine are required to register via the module booking tool for a Bachelor's or Master's degree. Students at the Vetsuisse Faculty receive their final degree at the Bachelor's and Master's levels upon reaching the required number of ECTS credits.

Direct entry to a Master's or doctoral program or to the program for teacher training (for UZH students in a Bachelor's or Master's program respectively)

Applications must be made via online semester enrollment. Your application will be processed by the Student Administration Office and forwarded directly to the appropriate faculty, which will decide whether you can be accepted onto your chosen course of study with or without restrictions or conditions.

Change of major and minor subject

A change of major and minor subject for the spring semester may or may not be possible, depending on the course of study. Contact the relevant faculty beforehand. You should also contact the faculty directly regarding credits for courses already taken.

ECTS minor subjects on licentiate course in Faculty of Arts

Faculty of Arts students are required to state newly selected minor subjects of another faculty and which are eligible for European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) points during semester enrollment. Otherwise they cannot be used for module booking.
